Behind The Scenes with MrBeast

This week, Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson premiered Beast Games, his $100M show on Prime Video.
I actually spent 11 days with Donaldson on set while they were filming. Including the finale.
I spoke with everyone from contestants to crew. I had a lot of questions given the news around the show.
So we made a 4-part video series about it.
Our first video explored the first episode of Beast Games.
"This is establishing dominance."
That’s how Donaldson described his approach to making Episode 1.
“A lot of people who watch the [Amazon show], do not watch my YouTube videos,” Donaldson said. “I wanted to instantly hit them with, ‘Hey, this is crazy.'”
“I also had to throw a little diss at other shows. Normal shows have a million dollar grand prize. Beast Games has a million dollars in first minute and 42 seconds.”
Breaking over 40 Guinness World Records
Beast Games broke many records while filming, including:
- 1,107: Most cameras recording on competitive TV show simultaneously
- 1,000: Most trap doors used on a set of TV show
- 83: Most people dropped through trap doors simultaneously

Before dropping people through trapdoors, Donaldson added: “We did over 2,000 practice drops with stunt professionals. The platforms were severely padded, and below them sat a crash pad topped with four feet of foam.”
To prove the point, Jimmy even dropped his mom on one of the platforms.
What happens off camera
The show itself is fast-paced but the filming was much slower between takes.
That’s because they repeated the rules of each challenge several times before cameras started rolling.
“When I would announce the challenges and describe them, every single thing had to be run through the standards and practice team to make sure that I was describing things correctly, where everyone understood it,” Donaldson said.
Stay Tuned
It’s hard to sum up my thoughts on Beast Games in one post. Or even one video. Which is why we turned our 11 days of footage into several.

MoistCr1TiKaL Unveils Twitch vs YouTube Earnings ($84,000 For A Video)

Red Sox vs Yankees. Lakes vs Celtics. And now…YouTube vs Twitch.
Well, at least when it comes to live streaming.
Charlie White, known as MoistCr1TiKaL to his 21.9M fans, is sharing his earnings on both platforms. Let’s just say…it’s wild.
The Breakdown
MoistCr1TiKaL compared earnings from two of his biggest videos:
- Twitch: He made $11,700 on his most profitable Twitch stream ever. Mostly from subscriptions (viewers who pay $5.99).
- YouTube: He made $84,000 on his most profitable YouTube video. $4K live and $80,000 after (VOD).
As MoistCr1TiKaL put it:
“On Twitch, when the stream ends, it’s basically forgotten—that’s lost media. On YouTube, when the stream ends, well, now the journey’s just begun. There’s no telling what that can generate.”
YouTube streams may underperform live, but their longevity makes up for it.
If streaming revenue is a stew, Twitch brings the heat while YouTube lets it simmer—earning far beyond the stream’s end.
The Case For Multistreaming
- Twitch Wins Live: Higher live earning potential thanks to subs and aggressive ad breaks.
- YouTube Wins After: When the stream ends, YouTube turns it into a VOD, which can generate revenue for weeks or months.
The Takeaway
For creators, multistreaming is becoming a necessity. Here’s why:
- Twitch VODs Lack Monetization: While Twitch does save VODs for 60 days, they’re not monetized, regardless of views. Essentially, once a Twitch stream ends, it’s gone—leaving money on the table.
- YouTube’s VOD Advantage: On YouTube, streams are automatically saved as VODs and monetized, continuing to generate ad revenue for weeks or months.
- Shorts for Discoverability: YouTube also gives creators tools like Shorts, which boost discoverability even while the livestream is still running. Creators like IShowSpeed have teams clipping highlights in real-time, bringing in new viewers mid-stream and driving VOD engagement after.
With exclusivity contracts disappearing, creators like Ludwig are returning to Twitch and embracing multistreaming.
He recently announced his return, saying, “I don’t know what the split will be. And I say ‘split,’ because I am absolutely going to be doing some streams on Twitch.”
For streamers who want to maximize reach and earnings, leveraging both platforms strategically might be the smartest move.
